There’s more to everything that happens
between us than just what’s visible. That’s why people
come to me for assistance. This ability to see beyond the “ordinary”
hasn’t always seemed like a blessing to me, but I’ve
dedicated my life to helping others.
Former Navy Airman Peter Johnstone had been in jail
for 14 months, facing the death penalty or life imprisonment for
the brutal slaying and mutilation of fellow helicopter Navy Airman
Anita Lukander—a murder he did not commit.
The Navy “Cold Case Squad” was reopening
the files of the unsolved eight-year-old crime, seeking to “bring
to justice” the man they speculated was the 1988 murderer.
The Public Defender’s office felt Johnstone might not be guilty,
but they had no evidence to prove it. That’s when they called
me in, in November of ’96. They had not given me any of the
details, but I knew immediately that he was innocent and told them
he would be set free in March. I “saw” that she died
from strangulation, not from the stab wounds, and felt her abductor
had held her for two or three days before her death, contrary to
the prevailing belief that she was killed immediately.
They later came up with a composite drawing from a
pawnshop owner’s description of this man, then a photo of
him that displayed the ring I had described on his finger! I “saw”
a big ring on his finger and told them to check in pawnshops for
guns he had tried to sell that did not belong to him. The Public
Defender attorney hired two different private investigators to follow
up the leads that I gave them. I insisted there was a composite
drawing from a pawnshop owner's description buried somewhere in
the case file boxes, which they found after much searching.
Johnstone’s trial went on for two weeks. The
composite sketch was not allowed to be shown during the trial. The
prosecutors could not make their case stick, but there was one hold-out
on the jury who believed Johnstone to be guilty. At that point,
the composite sketch produced from my psychic detective work was
shown to the jury, which established reasonable doubt. The unanimous
verdict by the jury was Not Guilty. In March, as I predicted, Peter
Johnstone walked out of jail a free man!
You will be able to read more details of this
case in Sharon John’s upcoming book, The Honey and
the Sting: A Gifted Psychic Shares Messages from the Other
Side on How to Taste the Sweetness of Life.
